| St Albans District Sports Awards 2012 in Club and Community Sport, Special Events. The 2012 St Albans City and District Sports Awards will be taking place on Thursday 21st June 2012 and WE WANT YOUR NOMINATIONS!! With such a big year of sport ahead what better time than 2012 to nominate an individual, team or club (whether school or community based) for their performances or the work they do 'behind-the-scenes'? There are lots of different events you can take part in the running half marathon, walking half marathon, 5K race and the 1.5 Childrens fun run. The event takes place on Sunday 10th June 2012. |
| Community Games Is your community celebrating the 2012 Olympics or the Jubiliee year? Why not arrange a Community Games event in your area to get into the Olympic spirit, or add a sporting element onto an event already being organised. The Community Games can provide an opportunity to bring your community together to take part in sporting and cultural activities in a fun and informal way. Your Community could be a street, an estate, local business, School PTA, shared interest group or just regular users of the public park. |
| Sky Ride Local cycling events – Ride Leaders needed in Special Events. This summer Hertfordshire will be benefiting from a number of ‘Sky Ride Local’ cycling events in St Albans, Watford andHemel Hempsteadwhich are being run through British Cycling and funded through the Local Sustainable Transport Fund. |

| Community Games Activators Wanted Want to help your community to come together to celebrate the 2012 Olympics? Then why not become a Community Games Activator for the Watford and District YMCA? As a Community Games Activator you will be able to develop your own ideas for events to bring your community together to take part in sporting and cultural activities in a fun and informal way, and at the same time raise money for the Watford YMCA’s community programmes. Your Community could be a street, an estate, local business, School PTA, shared interest group or just regular users of the public park. As a volunteer you will gain a variety of benefits from free training to experience in organising mass participation events. Furthermore you will as have the opportunity to be part of a project which will take in place in 2,750 communities involving 58,000 volunteers and with 2 million people taking part. | INSTRUCTORS NEEDED TO TEACH EXERCISE CLASSES FOR OLDER ADULTS The Herts Sports Partnership is looking for experienced exercise leaders to teach Seated Exercise classes and OTAGO Strength and Balance classes to adults aged 65 years + who have had or are at risk of falling. The partnership currently runs 20 classes per week across Hertfordshire and will soon be expanding this to 30 classes per week. Suitable candidates will have experience of teaching exercise classes to older adults and an apathy and understanding of the needs for this age group. |
