Harpenden Bowling Club is one of the largest in Hertfordshire, boasting some of the finest facilities in the south-east. Following its recent successes in district, county and national competitions, one of its lady members was selected and recently played for the England national team. The club also includes an under 25 county champion and players who successfully represent Hertfordshire at a national level.
However, its the club's focus on ensuring that players of all abilities and ages, including those completely new to the sport, are as welcome and as important members of the club as the more experienced bowlers, that has ensured the club has thrived throughout its hundred year history and is still going strong today.
It is the perfect place to meet new friends in Harpenden. Its full social calendar, including breakfasts, coffee mornings, afternoon tea, dinners, festive celebrations and ever-popular hog roast nights, is an essential part of the club's success and is enjoyed by both playing and non-playing social members. The club is open throughout the year, with short mat bowling and a bridge club in the winter months.
If you are new to bowling and wish to give it a go, full coaching is available before you decide to join. The club runs various different competitions, ensuring that everyone gets to compete at a level at which they are comfortable.
