Funding

For the majority of local clubs/organisations, especially those that are non-profit making, sourcing external funding is vital in order to expand or start new activity. But with so many funding options to choose from things can become complicated! We have outlined some options for you below and please remember that Active St Albans can provide support to help strengthen any funding application you make.


Funding from Active St Albans

Get Back Into / Livewire

Whether you'd like to attract more adults (18+) into your club or organisation, or if you're targeting 5-19 year olds, Active St Albans may be able to help by offering a small grant. Contact us and let us know what you're looking to acheive.

External Funders

Sport England Small Grants Programme

The Sport England Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sport projects which seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport. Applications of between £300-£10,000 will be accepted.

The 948 Sports Foundation

Support will be considered for projects which demonstrate: Provision of equipment or facilities; specialist training and achieving excellence; a sporting activity within a group or team environment. Funding of up to around £1,000 can be granted.

Sports Aid

Gives grants to youngsters aged 12-18 that compete in national squads, generally worth £500, to help with costs such as travel, training, accomodation, competition and equipment. Applications MUST be made through your National Governing Body.

Sport England Sportsmatch

Makes awards to organisations that can demonstrate the potential to grow and sustain participation in community sport. Sport England will match private investment pound for pound between £500-£100,000.

Awards for All

Grants of between £300-£10,000 offered for projects that improve communities and the lives of people most in need. Can't be used where sport is primary objective, but could be used for 'up-skilling' coaches and volunteers to increase chances of employment.
